Placement Info

Dance Magic

Placement for Int/Adv Ballet, Majestic 1, 2, 3 Teams and Premier Teams

Why have placements?  Dance Magic’s performing teams have placed so high in the previous dance seasons that many teams need to compete in a higher category.  As a result, we need to ensure that dancers are on the correct team according to skill level.  Placement assures that our dancers are on the correct team.  This is an exciting time, and shows just how well Dance Magic continues to perform!  Our goal is to make placement a positive experience for all dancers!  We have found great success in our placement program.

Who is eligible?  All dancers 2nd grade and older are invited to placement to determine their performing team.  All dancers who are 2nd grade and older are invited to try-out for our Premier or Junior Premier team.  All Intermediate and Advanced Level Ballet Students.

How is placement held?   Dancers who are interested in dancing with our two-day a week performing teams and/or premier teams will come to a placement class.  This class will identify and evaluate skills to place the dancer in the appropriate class.

How will we find out what class our dancer is placed in? During placement, you will sign up for a five minute time slot on Wednesday, August 25th to meet and discuss with Rochelle, Elisha, or Jenny what class your dancer is in.   We will sit down together and discuss why the dancer was placed in the appropriate class. NO LISTS WILL BE POSTED.

Dancers who are placed on the Premier or Junior Premier team will also be on a Majestic performing team.  The Premier and Junior Premier Teams will be an additional 45 min. - 1 hr. per week.

What if my dancer isn’t placed in the class that she desired? Encourage her to work hard in the class in which she is placed!  She will excel and continue to develop her talents!  Occasionally, dancers simply need one or more dance seasons to develop. Please, do not request that a dancer be put in a class that is beyond her ability. (The experience would be more damaging to the dancer’s self-esteem, and that is not the desired result of placement!)
